The drive, honestly described
It is roughly 15 km from the airport to West Bay, and it takes 25 to 35 minutes depending on Coxen Hole traffic and whether a ship is in port. The road runs west through town, past Sandy Bay, then over the hill and down into West Bay. The last stretch is narrow and busy with golf carts — a local driver makes a real difference there, especially after dark.
The resorts on this run
West Bay hotels sit on a single beach strip and several have gated vehicle entrances set back from the sand. Give us the property name and the driver goes to the right gate — the beach strip includes Infinity Bay Spa & Beach Resort, Mayan Princess Beach & Dive Resort, Kimpton Grand Roatán, Henry Morgan Beach Resort and the villa rentals above the beach.
Why not just take a taxi at the airport?
You can, and plenty of people do. The difference is that a street taxi price is negotiated at the kerb after a four-hour flight, is quoted per person as often as per car, and rarely includes air conditioning or luggage space for a family of five. A booked transfer is a fixed number you agreed to days earlier, in writing.
